I had such a nice surprise this morning. A customer, Ann, had started stitching the large tea cosy a couple of years ago and she sent me a picture of it finished and made up.
Didn’t it turn out beautifully? She had bought it to stitch on a flight to a ski holiday, and then kept stitching when she broke her leg on the first run of the first day. First run of the first day. Ugh.
She bought it back when I was still doing most of my own painting and asked if I could paint a K on it instead of the T. She figured out how to do a back on it too.
It’s such a treat to see things finished up. Heaven knows that doesn’t happen very often with my own stitching!
This has always been one of my favourites. I remember painting it one afternoon in my sketchbook and then going to pick up my youngest from school, and taking along the sketch so I could keep peeking at it.
I still do that with the paintings I do in my painting class. I prop them up against the door on the passenger seat and when I stop at lights glance over to try to see them with fresh eyes.
I don’t think I had ever used these bright colours before, and felt a bit starstruck by them. They ended up being “Pippin” colours that I go back to over and over. If you need proof look at the paint bobs at the top of the Pippin website pages, and the other colours used in logs and backgrounds. Takes me back. So love what I do! Thanks Ann. Nice memories.
