Green

All those greens are catching my eye these days.  My very favourite ones are the pale yellowy greens when the leaves are just opening in April.  Those greens pop against the blues around me, the islands and cloudy skies and the still cold sea, and make me smile inside.  Now those leaves are open and the greens are taking over.

Needles too.  These ones looked like they wanted to come through my windshield.

Makes one want to kick up the heels a little.  (My friend and I were trying to get a shot of Riley’s face while he sat calmly so I could paint that handsome face, but it was a beautiful sunny day and he was feeling it to the tips of his toes. Yup. Guess how that photo shoot went.)photo 1

I like the little bits of green too.

Especially when I’m looking down at them.

There’s a medium green colour that I include in many (most) of my designs, and I think it reminds me of that beautiful green of seaweed. Ahhh Appleton 544.  Intense!

Most of the greens catching my eye though seem to be trees, and lately that may be all the more because I just finished up designing a set of trees for an exclusive club that The Needlepointer in Everett will be launching in late fall.  Sneak peek! I can’t wait to see what these look like stitched and standing as a funky needlepoint forest.photoThese days I seem to be constantly pointing my phone camera up shooting the green above.  And i do love my phone camera — it gives me the chance to shoot lots and lots of things that I would never usually have a camera for — but boy it just can’t catch the way those leaves glow and float and call.

And finally, a forest I walked in last year, with the sea calling in the distance.  This is waiting to go up on my youngest one’s wall.  I love that.
