A dozen birdhouses… again

The mornings are getting lighter and I’ve heard the odd chirps and tweets and mutters from early birds but am waiting for that crazy spring-time song bliss they get into.  The loopy singing.  I just love that.  And I love that at first it fills me with joy to hear, and then quieter happiness, and then boy those guys start their day early, and then holy smokes could they please hold off until it’s at least light out?  It’s a privilege to get to be irritated by the sound of happy birds.

Maybe the birds are busy right now looking for new digs.  Last fall I redesigned the dozen birdhouses and tweaked shapes and colours.  I think the original was the very first “dozen” I designed and as near as I can figure that was in 1997.

This is my painted master copy of the new design, which had to endure many changes of mind on what colour goes where and also what house goes there. You can see the painted ghosts in the background! A little lumpy and bumpy but who isn’t?

A bunch of the dozens got the tweaking treatment and I will start posting them up here, and then on the website.  Bursting with stuff to do! Might start singing along with the loopy birds!
