Boo’s view

I looked out my office window a while ago just in time to see something climbing up the tree across the street.  What the heck?  Raccoon?  Huge squirrel?

Just Boo, the neighbour’s cat.  Looking for a better view.

To be clear she was a long way up.

When she was still up there a couple of hours later I texted her Mama.  No worries, she said.  Boo is a zen cat.  She’ll have wanted to see what was up there.  She’ll be loving it and not worrying about the trip down.

Just to be safe she came to see and called friends with ladders.  They said it’s very rare — as in never —  that they find a crunched up kitty at the bottom of a tree, and that when rescuers are sent up they usually come out the worse for wear in a cat scratched up way.  She’d be OK.  One of many interesting predicaments.  A zen cat.

Evening fell.  How was this going to work?  All the branches below her have been cut.  Could she climb down backwards?  Jump and bounce off the roof?  In the dark?  I slept fitfully, thinking about all of the body logistics of being stuck way up for hours.  Oh Boo.

In the morning the branch was empty and I got word that in the middle of the night she had arrived home, curled up in a chair, and peacefully dozed off.  None the worse for wear.

Zen cat for sure.  I like her feistiness.
