I visited such a beautiful spot up the Coast recently. Empty and peaceful and wild and full. These stripes in the rock made me smile. I liked what the stripes were made up of too. This starry starry moss always seems a bit magical. Teensy green stars.
I’m always so inspired and influenced by the colours of places like this. The greens especially, but the rest too. The pale grey blues of the water and the sky and distant islands, the reds of the arbutus trunks. The golden grasses. Below is a slice of a larger painting I did recently and they all show up there I think. I bet I could name Appleton wool colours for a lot of those shades.
They’re such a gorgeous mix of colours in nature, both dramatic and restful.
