So glad to see these guys back in action. Somewhere along the way I’ve become a hockey nut. Specifically a Vancouver Canucks nut. I’m a frequent flyer on their website. I know when the next game is. I can name names. A few stats. I have opinions.
I was lucky enough to go to a few games lately and that made me grin hugely. I love the sounds, the speed, seeing the players in person, trying to keep up with what’s going on without the tv broadcaster talking at me.
I also like the walk through the streets after the game ends, and the team has won. First there’s a crowd of Canucks fans all around, loud and laughing and boisterous in a sea of blue and green jerseys. Then the crowds thin out farther from the arena, and it turns into a quiet walk, maybe a peek at the moon, a wrong turn or two, and a happy feeling being downtown in the dark.
Now I’m sure the walk would be great after a loss too, but my boys are looking good and I wasn’t able to test that out after any of these games! Because they won. They beat the opposing teams. They got the win. (Passive aggressive trash talk.)
The washroom at the Arena made me happy too. What great graffiti!
Taking the picture, I bent over sideways until I was practically lying on the floor to get out of the shot so it makes me chuckle now to see that the door handle gave me up.
Go Canucks Go.
And if you’re reading this from Boston… still hurts man.
