\"\"<\/a>It took me a while to pick my word for the new year. \u00a0Early in December I thought I had it — thrive<\/em> — but the year ended with a bit of a whimper and that sounded a little daunting. \u00a0Thrive has some pretty hefty expectations.<\/p>\n

I also came pretty close to savor<\/em>.<\/p>\n

I cycled away and wondered if these words were a little airy fairy. \u00a0Maybe I should choose responsibility<\/em> or duty<\/em> or something like that. \u00a0Although I\u00a0ultimately\u00a0asked a friend to smother me if I chose any of those words. \u00a0Definitely things that should be in my life, but not so much words I want to spend a year concentrating on or living emphatically!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The other day I was\u00a0painting\u00a0Pippin canvases at my desk and I looked up and saw this card I’d stuck to my wall last year some time. \u00a0The writing below is a quote from Roald Dahl, one of my very favourite quotes.<\/p>\n

Wholehearted. \u00a0Perfect. \u00a0Not as perky and demanding as thrive<\/em>. \u00a0Just whatever I’m doing do it with my whole heart.<\/p>\n

I had a wait time during a soccer practice later that day and made it official. \u00a0I always make a point of writing the word\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>(although at that time I was writing it as two words)\u00a0<\/span>in a brand new journal,\u00a0although this time I also hung onto the other words I’d considered and kept last year’s words in the mix too<\/span>. This year I had bought all of the colours of journals available before except for red, purple,\u00a0and\u00a0brown. \u00a0Again, red seemed a little demanding and daunting. \u00a0You have to be on top of your game to write in a red journal. \u00a0Purple… \u00a0well I thought about it but in the end I just couldn’t do it. \u00a0I admire purple but mostly from afar. \u00a0I’m just not ready to let it get close enough to hold my thoughts and writings. \u00a0So brown it was. \u00a0But\u00a0still. \u00a0Brown. \u00a0Check\u00a0out the colours of journals I’ve used over the last bunch of years, up above. \u00a0Brown seems like a bit of a different animal.<\/p>\n

But now I think brown is a great colour for a year of wholeheartedness! \u00a0Rich and calm and trying really hard.<\/p>\n

Wholehearted. \u00a0I think\u00a0this\u00a0could work!<\/p>\n
