Dogs I have known

Although I am usually hanging out with black cats (do you feel the tension?)

it seems like I’m often surrounded by cool dogs. Light coloured ones. It seems to be my niche. This one joined me on my beach towel and shared the view.

This one was creating nose-steam art while she waited. That’s always something I thought I should try.

This picture is from five or so years ago but these two have always stuck in my head. Enjoying a Mackenzie Beach sunset together in Tofino. Just feeling it.

And this girl, Daisy, who should not have been photographed lying on her porch because she’s always kicking up her heels running around her property. She has legs that go on forever and when she runs she springs.

The only other shot I really have of her is from a glorious walk to a lake where we came across a true pack. The owner of the cabin there is involved in training service dogs and is involved with dogs of all ages, from pups beginning training all the way to retirees, and I was lucky enough to end up in the middle of a swirling reunion. Gleeful. Full of glee. I can’t remember how many there were but I think at least ten. They ran and ran and ran in circles, around cars and cabins and boats, so it was completely impossible to get more than a few in a shot. Very frustrating but absolutely amazing to be in the middle of. They were all either light coloured or dark, labs or lab-related, some almost indistinguishable from each other, except for this one little one, who snarkily jumped in and would then withdraw with grumbles and angry looks until he felt like jumping back in. Picture this group times two. At least.

So maybe all these good girls and boy I cross paths with stick in my mind when I draw things like this.

New Pippin needlepoint design. A very good girl.
